Grace periods give you a little time. Check yours.
Life insurance policies usually allow a grace period after the premium due date. Under IRDAI rules it is generally 15 days for monthly premiums and 30 days for other payment modes. Health policies also allow a grace period for renewal, but a claim during that time may not be covered. Your policy document states the exact terms.
Motor insurance works differently
Motor policies generally have no grace period. Once the policy expires you are driving uninsured, and leaving it too long can cost you your no-claim bonus. Renew before the expiry date.
Plan ahead for yearly premiums
Yearly premiums are large and infrequent. Pay Alert reminds you up to 5 days before the due date. If you want time to compare renewal quotes or arrange the money, add a separate “Compare quotes” reminder a month earlier.

Questions
Can Pay Alert remind me of a yearly premium?
Yes. Add the premium with its due date and leave repeat off. After paying, add next year’s due date.
Do I need to enter my policy number?
No. A short name such as “Term plan” or “Car insurance” is enough. Avoid typing policy numbers or other sensitive details.
Will Pay Alert remind me if the premium is overdue?
Yes, if “Everyday after due” is on in Settings. Pay Alert then reminds you daily until you mark the premium as paid.
